BirdCast Migration Forecast -- 5 March 2012
March 05, 2012
BirdCast predictions for the week of 5 March are now posted (5 March 2012) with animated wind maps and last week's results. We plan to publish periodic forecasts discussing and predicting what bird migration might be anticipated in the coming days. Expect an advancing high-pressure system to bring good bird migration east of the Rocky Mountains this week, beginning on the Great Plains Monday and Tuesday and proceeding eastward to the East Coast by Wednesday night and Thursday. A cold front will hit the West Coast Tuesday, creating a strong onshore flow and good conditions for sea-watching. See the story below for full details. BirdCast is a feature by NOAA and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and will provide periodic bird migration forecasts for Spring 2012. "
